bookbint 's review for:
The Cutting Place
by Jane Casey
I hadn't read any of Jane Casey's books before & will now look out for the backlist.
I ended up reading until 1am as the amount of crimes kept adding up and needed to be dealt with.
It appears at first to be one body, cut up, pieces found on the Thames shore by a Mudlarker. Maeve Kerrigan is the DI on the case as her partner, Josh Derwent is asked to deal with a domestic case.
A possible missing journalist, personal effects missing and evidence loosely pointing in the direction of a high end mens club has Kerrigan with enough work on that her boyfriend is finding it hard to get time alone with her.
So much happens in this crime novel I had to pop it down as my adrenaline was pumping. The speed at which a moment twists to something else is shockingly real and I was left reeling when Maeve's life really was in danger.
I will be picking up all further books in the series and checking out Cruel Acts.
A satisfying end, but is it all truly over?
