The Meaning of It All by Richard P. Feynman
2.0

This may not be a terrible book, but this short volume by Richard Feynman certainly undershoots his other works by a wider margin. Maybe it’s the fact that the three lectures were delivered, well, as lectures undercuts it’s readability. Sentences frequently run on and sometimes the point isn’t all that clear.

Or perhaps this book suffers from its age. The comments in what science is, the value of doubt and so on are timeless. But a lot of the detail - particularly on Nuclear war or Russian-American relations or certain then-current societies - are just not that interesting. They simply don’t resonate today.

Despite its diminutive nature I cannot really recommend this somewhat rambling and disjointed set of thoughts. Far better to read the inestimably better ‘What do you care what other people think?’ than this disappointing book.
