Mister Tender's Girl by Carter Wilson

4.0

I loved this book--it had everything a book could have in order to make me love it.  Coffee shops, baristas, unpublished books, Phantom of the Opera, Winnie the Pooh, women who take matters into their own hands, plot twists, family drama, Boston, London, bartenders, twins.  SO GOOD.

Broken up into three parts, Mister Tender's Girl follows Alice, a stabbing victim whose past has come back to haunt her fourteen years later.  Each chapter ends in a punchy way that propels you into the next chapter, hungry for more.

Half the time I forget how much I love thrillers, and this one made me remember immediately.  Here we have survivors, female violence, male violence, and discussion of families and the aftermath of traumatic events.  And the way all the clues come together to suggest an ending that's almost unbelievable--it's just so good.

I'd definitely suggest this to those who love thrillers, coffee, and intertextuality.  You won't want to miss it.
