Book 1 in this trilogy is about a group of 30-somethings battling a demonic spirit brought to a small town by an ancient ritual. Despite the great reviews online, I found the book a bit slow and the dialogue cringeworthy (it felt like it was written by someone’s nan trying to “be cool”).
The plot in itself was ok, and she managed to mix fantasy with the modern world convincingly, so I managed to overlook the dialogue to get to the end. I was debating whether to continue the trilogy as I was intrigued to know how the story and the characters progressed but not enough to go through more of nan’s hip chat.
