This was honestly on its way to a 4 star read. I loved watching Des and Callie’s relationship grow. I think it was heartwarming to see them become friends before anything like love was on the table. Their platonic relationship was one of my fav parts! The sexual tension was also amazing! But then the end just happened so quickly and
I was left questioning why the transformation happened. Was her dad fae? Is she part fae? Was the transformation part of her siren heritage that had been locked away? Because it seems like she views it as something the King of Fauna did to her, which makes her feel violated. I would totally be down for metamorphosis if it was empowering and didn’t feel like a metaphor for SA. Just left me feeling gross and uncomfortable after such an amazing first 380 pages of the book.
