First and foremost, this book is incredibly and beautifully written and unique. It took me a moment to get used to the poetic-like writing, but once I found the flow of the words in my head, it all opened up. These characters are complex and frustrating and relatable all at once. Sometimes I had to remind myself they were teenage girls to get past their tendencies to self-aggrandize or wax poetically about their problems and messiness. There is certainly a plot to this book, but the emotions and feelings tie everything together, so be prepared for a rollercoaster ride. The author's note was definitely healing and helped put everything into perspective. If it hits, it's probably for a reason.
