This was intense! This is a science fiction alien romance with great world-building, action, and plot. The romance is a slow burn despite there being some instant attraction. The hero fights his feelings because he doesn't understand them or want to cause harm. I really liked both the hero and the heroine.

I will say I was a little confused at first because the characters and situation don't have anything to do with the first book. They do get mentioned briefly, but this book has it's own story and is adding to the universe that the author is building.

I liked the romance aspect of this one a little more than the first book (and I really enjoyed the first book too.) There's more physical interaction between the characters, even though the spicy scenes are still pretty tame. (I just wish the author would add a little more foreplay or exploration of their bodies for each other. They're aliens to each other, so I would think they would be more curious!)

POSSIBLE SPOILERS
The ending moved a little too quickly for me after dragging through the horrible treatment on Nihl. There is a HEA, but I would have liked to have seen more about their happy life together than was given.
