shreyda 's review for:
The Hunt for Red October
by Tom Clancy
This book is a step out of my comfort zone for sure, not so much because of the story itself, but because of the style. I'm no military expert and have little to no knowledge about submarines, so I can't judge how accurate the technical and tactical information is, but Clancy takes the time to set up the stage and go into details in a way that I found very insightful and admirable. However, I felt like three quarters of the book were spent on technical information and strategy planning bureaucracy and I will admit some of the details went a little over my head. It took me quite a while to get past the first half of the book because there was just too much explaining of how things work and description and not much going on. Fortunately, this story is incredibly enjoyable even if you don't follow all of the technicalities and once the action starts, thing start happening fast and it's hard to put the book down.
