Totally beautiful, affective, charming. Also, it’s worth saying, kinda f*cked (can I curse here?). For fans of “I’m thinking about doing ayahuasca“ and crying until you puke. I could never in good conscience recommend this to anyone I love but also everyone should probably read it. The kind of book that will make you want to call someone you love just to tell them you love them.

Please do note, there is some heavy thematic material presented here, albeit wrapped in a very lovely, heartfelt, whimsical package. The beating heart of the story is love and that takes you to the very end, but love and pain coexist here in a way that feels very true to life and is also, if you’re not emotionally prepared for it, a gut-punch. Proceed with caution and tissues and check the content warnings. It really is a beautiful story though so have a healthy fear but approach it anyways and let it serve as a reminder to take big, huge bites of life while you still can.

This is a spoiler but….

P.S.
Still trying to decide if the ending was absolutely necessary. Felt a little mean in the moment but my emotional equilibrium was also so past shot by time I got there that there’s no telling how it reads to a person experiencing something closer to stasis.
