Devilish King
by Kylie Kent
My favourite Kylie Kent book so far. I really liked this book!
I enjoyed both MCs and I'm enjoying the Mafia-lite aspect of it. It's not really dark imo but I really do like the H's obsession with Holly from when he meets her. This instalove thing can go either way for me but I feel like the author got it right. I also really like that Holly felt the "rightness" in meeting T. Although she was shocked by the depth of her feelings for him after such a short amount of time she accepted these feelings for the most part. The problem I have with instalove isn't the insta part more that those stories tend to get boring very quickly. This didn't happen here the story was fast paced and compelling that it just all worked well for me.
It lost half a star because the cliffhanger was predictable and I saw it coming. As you got H’s pov before the cliffhanger occurs you can pretty much guess what is going to happen. Consequently it didn't have the shock factor. Depending on your perspective it softened the blow for the reader or ruined the cliffhanger. I didn't take a whole star off because to me this book was not that dark so it didn't ruin my enjoyment of it or put me off moving on to book 2.
