I went into this expecting a romance between two rival photographers featuring a bombshell plus-size FMC, but got an entitled white man steam-rolling over our FMC packaged as a love story. (Possible spoilers) Cassie is a budding photographer and collaborator on friend’s inclusive line of lingerie. When the line gets it’s retail debut, Cassie is strong armed into becoming the lead model and handing over the photography to her rival Reid Montgomery. While working on this campaign feelings blossom, but all the while Reid is taking money from the Corp in exchange for undermining Cassie. In the end, he truly does almost nothing to redeem himself especially when he had no true justification for swindling Cassie. There’s no romance in a white man stealing from and lying to a black woman while bedding her. This book gets extra points for the body positivity but… it’s a no for me.
