The Ordinary Princess
by M.M. Kaye
Something about this book did NOT work for me.
It was a short and sweet story about an "ordinary" princess. It used that ordinary-ness to explore some interesting ideas.
Overall, though, I was bored through most of it. I only finished it because it was so short. The writing style was not my favorite (very classic-fairy tale style, more telling a story than immersing you in the character), and there really wasn't much of a plot. The story was predictable, but cute. It was just ... Mostly boring for me.
I do think that a young girl (maybe 8 to 10) would enjoy this more, and I may try it with my own daughter (currently 4) who loves princesses when she is a little older.
