Promise That You Will Sing about Me: The Power and Poetry of Kendrick Lamar by Miles Marshall Lewis, Miles Marshall Lewis

informative slow-paced
I didn't technically finish this book. I skimmed the last half. It is so packed full of information about Kendrick Lamar and the 1990s-2000s hiphop era, but it also seemed to expect me to have some cultural knowledge of the era, which I don't. I probably recognized 1/3 of the name drops in the book. Really really cool to read, very interesting stuff, but extremely dense. I should add: the writing isn't dry. The writing is very conversational and casual. Great coffee table book for someone who admires Kendrick Lamar (which is me).
