Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony

2.0

I'd forgotten how poorly this novel compares to its predecessor. The figure of Norton/Chronos seems base and directionless when contrasted with Zane/Death in Book One. Additionally, his various jaunts into the fantasy/adventure realm come off as cheap inserts, as though the author had an idea for a comedy crossover but couldn't quite flesh it out enough to have it stand alone.

I will continue the series to see if this is merely a blip and hope that the excellence of Book One returns.
