A Room Called Earth by Madeleine Ryan

1.0

When reading this novel, I immediately felt like I was missing something.

I was expecting sincerity, warmth, unique insights on the world around the protagonist/narrator, compelling storytelling and dry, deadpan wit from an autistic woman who wants to go into depth about her POV in a fictionalized setting.

Instead I got rambling, smug, crass, new age spirituality touted as fact from a woman who believes every bit of pseudo intellectualism. Although I normally have no issue with arrogant, annoying, genuinely unlikeable protagonists/narrators, there was nothing redeeming or anything valuable being said.

She is not like other girls and lords it over every woman she comes in contact with. Nothing of value was said or observed. Her technical skills doesn't make up for the lack of depth and charm in this novel.
