If you’ve been on the fence about reading this book for any which reason*, look no further. This book was amazing and casted out any doubts in my mind. I loved getting to know Marcus and Phoebe better, and didn’t expect to love Marcus’ back story. Matthew and Diana’s involvement as well as their family’s added dimension to Marcus’ as well as potentially setting up plot points for the next book…
Overall I really enjoyed this book, Deborah Harkness’ writing once again shows her attention to historical detail and niche plot points other authors may miss; while still containing rich prose and emotion. Any book is lucky to be in her hands and by her pen.
*Any reasons like mine being: I don’t know if I care about this character. I hate the pregnancy trope and children. What if it’s not as good? All thoughts I had, that were then proved wrong.
