The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A. Flynn
5.0

4.5.

I had no idea I was going to love this book as much as I did. I had no idea what it was about, for one. And truly, I'm a wannabe Austen fan. I've only read one of her novels (I was told it's her weakest one) and really didn't care for it. But I love the movies, remakes, and the time period and apparently all things related to Jane Austen. Which is probably why I loved this book.

And I loved it so much!!! Rachel and Liam are time travelers from a distant future who have come to retrieve Austen's forgotten, unfinished manuscript "The Watsons." Their primary objective is to befriend the Austens while posing as gentile siblings who were raised in Jamaica. The care that Kathleen Flynn took to craft such a storyline and make it so believable is a testament to her skill as a writer. I love the blend of science, history, literature with a dash of romance and humor--it had all the makings to become my favorite read of the year. My one complaint is that I ended the book with too many unanswered questions so it didn't feel completely tidied up at the end. But it didn't deter from my enjoyment. Loved, loved, loved it!!
