reread note: yes, I have read all of MZ's book a ridiculous amount of times. do I care? that would be a no. they always manage to get better.

I tried so hard to make this book last. I read every sentence slowly and even doubled back and read my favourite chapters all over again. I read this book in about eight hours, I stayed up until 5am when I had work the next morning (and trust me, that is not something I do often, this girl can't function without at least 8 hours of sleep lmao) and it's 600+ pages long. I could not put this book down.

AND I DID NOT WANT IT TO END.

Usually I am captivated by super dramatic, insta-love (unrealistic) story lines, but this book was a beautiful slow burn that made me feel all the feels. It follows Vanessa Mazur who is planning to to go out on her own with a graphic design business, making the decision to quit her job as an assistant to the best defensive end in football. Van had done everything that was asked of her by Aiden Graves, but she received nothing but indifference and rude comments.

So when he turns up at her house a week after she quits, asking her to marry him for convenience, she isn't exactly thrilled.

things I especially loved about Van & Aiden—
● both come from broken families
● they struggle with their past and how it effects their relationships
● they are both stubborn & hardworking characters
● extremely loyal & caring
● aiden is obsessed with dogs *swoons*

"eyes set deep into a face that I'd only seen smile in the presence of dogs."

I am right there with him, there is nothing more pure and lovely than a dog.

Van has to be one of my favourite NA characters that I've read about to date. She is not spineless or whiny, she is extremely hardworking and goal orientated—she had lived a life where she knew what it was like to be hungry and it made her hell bent on setting up a good life. She was smart as a whip and hilariously witty.

"Something about him just made me want to abort mission each time we had to interact."

AND THAT LAST SENTENCE
"But I can't remember anymore what it's like to not be happy." AWH CUTE MY HEART MELTING OMG everything about this was so satisfying and adorable and I can't handle the feels lol
