The Monstrumologist
by Rick Yancey
I won't forget this any time soon! Thanks to the vivid descriptions of intense amount of gore and the terrifying realism of the monsters (it struck more of a cord with me that he didn't event them, they have been floating around the togethered brain of humans for quite a well with Herodotus first describing them) I won't be sleeping well for the next few nights.
The writing is poetic. An ability to make macabre gory scenes seem almost peaceful, I only shuddered after I had read each scene, realising the extent of it. But the horror moments and gore never becomes too much! Or tasteless. It's actually perfectly necessary.
Can you try harder to make me like Will Henry though? I just viewed him as a vehicle through which the story was told, he didn't stand out to me at all. I felt sorry for him certainly, but it wasn't enough. Also what kind of a name is Will Henry? that was so distracting to read.
Overall, excellent! I'll probably read it again.
