Mary Poppins
by P.L. Travers
-1 Star: Thin Character
-1 Star: Lack of cohesion
I'm commiting a cardinal sin by writing, "The movie is better." The titular character acts indifferent, even cold at times. It's difficult to believe Mary Poppins is adored, by children, animals, and cosmic beings. On an episodic level, it's clever and charming. Overall it feels undeveloped now. Both Emily Blunt and Julie Andrews have lent life to a character that is a name at best, at worst, forgettable.
