Oooh talk about a woman scorned! Mary was steadfast in her hatred of Leo for aaaaages. And when you take in her POV, I totally got it. I’d probably have been extra petty if it had been me.
Mary and Leo fell in love when they were 15. Playing Halo online. She always knew who he was, but had refused to reveal her own identity because she was insecure. Thought he would take one look at her and reject her. So when her biggest fears came true, she was destroyed.
But when we learn what really happened from Leo’s POV, man it completely deflated all Mary’s hatred of him. And again, I get it! He was known to be a player and the jokester and a user…but really he wasn’t truly any of those things. He was actually just a big softie who had never forgotten his online first love.
I love his determination to make Mary see how amazing she was, how beautiful, and sexy, and talented. Because although she had grown to love herself and her curves, deep down she was still that insecure 15 year old that didn’t feel good enough.
I think this is the last in the series so we get a little look at where the whole gang were heading with their lives in the epilogue, which was a nice touch.
I am a little surprised that Kyle isn’t getting his own book though! I feel like that redemption arc would be huge because he was already way less douchey in this book!
