I thought this was going to be written from the two women's perspectives and was very thrown when the first perspective was Cole's. The first third of the book felt like poorly written rage-bait. I almost DNFd the book multiple times.
The second section is from Mel's perspective, amd the third looks at Lennie's in an epistolary format. These sections were both better than the first by far and there was a decent pay off and good twist.
I just don't know if the good ending was enough to justify that first third. I think it would have been more effective overall if Cole was a little less insufferable or if his perspective was sprinkled in short chapters throughout rather than a hundred pages at the start.
A good read but I don't know that I would necessarily recommend it. The message is important and I did enjoy it though. It could be good for fans of Gone Girl.
