Spider-Man/Deadpool, Vol. 1: Isn't It Bromantic
by Joe Kelly
I had my hopes up high with this one. Spider-Man and Deadpool together? I was ecstatic to see what they got up too, but instead, it took me a long time to finish it because I would consistently fall asleep after a couple of pages (to be fair, I did start reading it at night before going to bed, but it didn't keep my attention to keep me awake, so take that as you will).
When Deadpool is hired to kill Peter Parker, he looks into it and becomes convinced that he is some evil scientist. The problem is getting close to him and oh yeah, he's a good guy now. Deadpool is trying to figure this out while being best friends with Spider-Man in hopes that he can learn to be better from him.
The storyline for this alone should have brought me laughs. Deadpool is hired to kill Peter Parker, but his best friend is Spider-Man? Come on. It's gold, but it wasn't. This was not the entertainment I thought I would get from this. More often than not, I was bored and a little confused about what the heck was going on. It was messy.
There is a part of me that wants to continue this series in hopes that gets better, but I feel like if I do I'm only going to continue to be more disappointed by their interactions together.
