I put this on hold at the library on a whim, not knowing much about the story before going in, and to say the least, I'm glad I picked this one up. I loved the intertwining of past and present tied to the ring Constance receives from her fiancé. I enjoyed that this was as much of a love story for Constance as it was for her(and maybe the author's) love of history and passion for dogs. I loved the bit of magical realism. Most importantly I loved how Constance's character changes from page 1 to the end. She is a bit of a people pleaser and takes scrapes from her friends/fiancé but by the end of it she is more confident in herself and stands up for herself. That made me so happy to see. To say the least, I felt very seen in Constance not just in her transformation, but her interests as well.
