I was held captive by this horror novel for so many reasons. And "held captive" in the right expression because horrible things happen in this story and I didn't want to know what terrible thing might happen next, but I couldn't bear to stop reading. I loved how the novel switched viewpoints throughout and I found the primary ones to be equally fascinating. I was very interested in Angela's and Corey's points-of-view and the peek at Marie's diary pages was wonderful. I did not care for the brief glimpses into Tariq's head, however, but it did increase my uneasiness and fright In terms of the book's ability to frighten me... it certainly did its job and did it well. One kind of supernatural occurrence in the novel scared me especially because it's the type that I would most dread happening to me, out of all the fictional awful things that are possible. It's a testament to the quality of the writing and the suspense of the plot that I kept reading, shivering the entire time.
