Sophie Jordan writes a HOT scene and we get one front, center and at the very beginning of this one. In my typical fashion, I jumped in without reading the first book. Was not lost at all. These appear to be very loosely related and while I'm not interested in the first book I would be down to read which ever sequel was hinted at in the epilogue.
Mercy Kittinger has to steal back the voucher for the family farm when her idiot brother gambles it away. In the process she finds herself needing to seduce the gaming hell's owner Silas Masters. Tall order for a humble country virgin but Mercy rises to the call.
Stunning. delightful. Fun. My only complaints are that we are told the main couple become friends while seeing very little of that transition. The horrible siblings (the younger sister is more a brat than horrible but I hated it) were not my favorite but they added a nice conflict that the book took full advantage of.
I would recommend this book for people who already like Sophie Jordan, historical romance fans, and people who like seeing the heroine as the sexual aggressor (or at least equal) in the relationship.
