To Believe in Women: What Lesbians Have Done for America - A History by Lillian Faderman

5.0

I absolutely LOVED this book. Particularly, the first sections involved queer women and the suffrage movement. I read this for my history capstone course on U.S. Women's Suffrage at college and it was so well done. Yes, it is a tad dated now but I would like to argue that it still provides a lot of great historical detail and insight into American history. Faderman not only shows us that, yes, lesbians exist in history, but also tells us how their identity as queer women affected their work (mostly for the better).
