Green Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson
5.0

KSR's Mars trilogy is, so far, some of the most believable sci-fi I've read. I'd believe it if I were told it was written this year instead of the mid-90s. Only complaint would probably be the amount of time spent on describing (and re-describing) Martian geography, which isn't very easy to visualize unless you're checking the included map repeatedly. Fortunately it's laid out clearly enough in all the moments it's important to the plot.
