- I gave book 1 and book 2, 4 and 5 stars respectively; I LOVE those books
- This was ... ehhhh
- Very slow building of the odd connection of Gwen and wolfhunter river ... a stranger’s plea for help?? GIRL you’ve got enough things on your plate!? Idk
- picks up around 66%
- the reveals about Sam ... listen I took those personally
- a running theme of the series is how people and the media sensationalize true crime and the extents of the dark web which I enjoyed but those themes weren’t nearly as prevalent as they are in the earlier books
- Here the focus travelled back to the accusations that Gwen was her husband’s accomplice ... a knowing and subordinate woman facilitating his crimes ... and CULTS; which was interesting but really only came about closer to the end
- honestly all the waiting was kind of worth it because the last 20% was damn chilling
- a lukewarm ending to this trilogy (?)
