The FMC is not my favorite, I wish she had more of a backbone/not as gullible, especially with everything that has happened since the first book. I also wasn’t sure how the author was going to get me to want to forgive the MMC of his deceit from the first book, but she did it. Although I could see the treachery from a mile away that pushed them back together.
**For anyone upset at the lack of love scenes; I know this is YA - but the wedding night description in the first book was totally unsatisfying - in this book the love scene is much better handled. I appreciate her effort in at least making me feel more of the characters emotions this time instead of “And they woke up the next morning”.**
However, I did enjoy the storyline and the twists and turns were twisting and turning! *Note, the writing describing some of the locations is a bit vague, so the some scenes become a bit muddled if you’re a visualizer*. I was shocked by one of the character reveals at the end, and bitting my nails through the action scenes. Were the action scenes realistic? No, but I think if you can put that aside, then you could possibly enjoy this book.*Think The Mummy movie 2 ending for reference*.
Am I happy with the ending, for the most part. I am glad that at least the loss of Inez’s fortune wasn’t for naught. IMO I think the mother will escape and come after them , but we will have to see what happens if she writes a third book on the SIL Arabella.
