the message is good. I think the overall theme it has is a good one and I understand it's valuable
BUT SO MANY BOOKS DO IT BETTER. the writing style of this book is awful. the author doesn't even try to get us attached to nearly any of the characters, so I didn't care about any of them, and nothing that happened to them had any deep impact on me because of that. it's also just... every other teenage boy survives on an island book? sure, this was the "original" but I think we shouldn't equate first to best because SO MANY other books do this kind of message and setting wayyyyy better and it has a greater impact
