Howl by Shaun David Hutchinson

When I decided to buy this book, I did a think I always say I don’t do: I judged a book by its cover and assumed this book was going to be Teen Wolf, but in book form and didn’t read a single content warning.
This because is NOT Teen Wolf and please if you want to read it yourself, DO read the content warnings ahead of time.
This book is not at all the kind of werewolf or monster story I expected it to be, but it is one that is so much better. I read one book by Hutchinson and hated it and I’m glad that I gave him another chance and the book I gave a chance to was this one.
Treating a werewolf attack like the actual assault it is was a genius and heartbreaking move. Watching Virgil cope and come into his own in such an authentic and realistic way is what makes this book one of my favorite of the year.
