A Strong Girl Fights Back
I heard so much about this book that I had to check it out, despite not being a fan of sci-fi horror for the most part. This book was definitely outside my comfort zone, but it was definitely worth the read.
The prose was beautiful and the setting was immersive. I really loved the parallels between the colonization of Mars and Manifest Destiny here on Turtle Island. The way the author showed the tribes and how they were pushed onto the barren land even here, but how they rose up and created their own way outside of the settlements.
I think the only thing I would have liked to have, would have been an explanation for The Silence, and whether or not Annabelle's father made it. The whole idea of Mars as a living entity was a bit difficult to grasp, however I guess that's cosmic horror at its core.
