Dune by Frank Herbert

4.0

Frank Herbert's great talent is to build an enormously detailed world and then just drop it on you. I felt through the first half of this book that I was missing something (and this was my second time reading it, so that's saying a lot, I think). That's not a complaint, just a testament to how real this place must have felt to him.

It is strange re-reading this book as a much older person (I must have read it at least ten years ago). I suspect if I were to read it again in ten years there would be more newness here.
