I had reservations about this one because of so many bad reviews on this site. They are wrong.
The Emerald Ring's beginnings are, as it references on the cover, very much like Pride and Prejudice. Scheming mother, indifferent father, silly sister. Then Letty is mistakenly taken and things get messier in the characters lives. I love the slow romance played out here for Letty and Geoff, as well as everything the other characters are up to.
As far as Eloise is concerned, some may dislike how she lives her life in this novel. To those people I would say have you ever met a history grad student? Because this is what they do. Also, how she reacts to Colin is in every way real and familiar.
It was a bit hard to sympathize with the characters in the beginning but the more they're around the better they get. Bravo!
