Finders Keepers
by Sarah Adler
This was a lovely second chance romance. I particularly appreciated the care and empathy with which the main character's early thirties life crisis was drawn - both the pain of everything you've worked for falling apart and the big life realizations that come with it. As a former academic myself, it meant a lot to see some of those feelings so thoughtfully laid out on the page. I was initially skeptical of the premise, but it ended up being a really lovely vehicle for the central relationship. Still, I thought the interstitials weren't as successful and it's ultimate conclusion felt a little cheesy. I would have loved a little more world-building with the friends and family and the central mystery to ground the story beyond just the central pairing. Still, I thought this was a sweet, enjoyable read.
