Eye-opening, informative, and deeply engaging—it covers so many important topics like apartheid, poverty, identity, and systemic racism, but it never feels heavy or hard to follow. Trevor Noah writes with such humor and heart! This book is funny, raw, moving, and impossible to put down.

I laughed out loud, I cried, I felt anger and joy—sometimes all on the same page.

Beyond being a powerful story about growing up in South Africa, it’s also such a beautiful tribute to women—especially mothers. Yes, it’s about Trevor’s childhood and the country that shaped him, but at the center of it all is his fierce, fearless, and incredibly loving mom.
