It took me a long time to finish this, partly because I read it for a Sunday School study, and partly because I wasn’t ready to put it down. I love RHE, and her loss was gutting. I have so severely missed her voice & grace & wisdom these last several years, and to have her last written words in my hands just felt so precious.
This book spawned some really quality discussion in my class, parts of it blew my mind, making me think of things in ways I never had before, it humbled me in the face of my lack of love for my own enemies, and continually made me cry. (I mean really, if you read that last part about her & Dan building a new home & watching her kids play in the front yard and you DIDN’T cry, do you have a heart??)
Strong recommend, whether you know & love Rachel’s previous work or not. It’s a beautiful, thoughtful picture of a beautiful faith.
