This book, while funny (because, c'mon, waking up a cockroach/beetle on a random day?), ended in a near devastating way. It was short and wrapped up everything, and the third chapter made me tear up. The last moments of Gregor's life, or really, after his metamorphosis, were so depressing. To be a literal monster in your home and be regarded as such, with great disgust, and not an inch of credibility as to whether you were who you were before. How (literally) dehumanizing this whole story is. Gosh.

But, in the end, I loved it. I felt a sort of connection to it that I didn't think I'd ever form. For the first time, I want to study this book and Kafka in greater depth.
