While this was my least favorite Daine book thus far, and possibly my least favorite Pierce book (at least in terms of emotion; I can recognize the quality was better than the first Alanna book), it was still exceptional. Daine is just a seriously amazing young woman, and the kinship she has with animals and her general sense of morality with absolutely NO easy way out or black/white portrayal... ugh. SO GOOD. Thank you, Tamora Pierce!!!!
