The One by Kiera Cass
2.0
1.5/5
There are some really good scenes in this one. The scene with Celeste in the library and her redemption--although that definitely ties into the protagonist-centered morality in this series. The scenes with all the Elite together getting ready and having fun. The Conviction is pretty cool.
And yet--everything I said in my first review is true, especially about the politics of the characters. And yet, this did not need to be a trilogy. And yet, America's motivations are floppy. And yet, that ending felt too nice and pretty with a bow on top. And yet, I don't understand why the monarchy needs to be in place at all. It's the crux of the caste system they say they want to dismantle.
