Someday, Somehow by Claudia Y. Burgoa
3.0

I am a big fan of Claudia's work, but this one fell a bit flat for me. Don't get me wrong, I very much liked both Auggie and George, the character development, and the ins and outs of their friendship. I loved the interaction between these two and watching their friendship grow and shift. Plus, there is a lot of humor and heart in this one!

Now, I generally enjoy a slow burn, but this one is a super slow burn...one that takes place over the course of 12 years. Twelve years of Auggie and George being in a relationship without realizing they are actually in one (and without the perks). They are so woven into the fabric of each other's lives, yet neither can see what is right in front of them. I just kept wishing that they would talk to one another, and, without adding spoilers, I felt that the last few chapters in the present were forced and included unnecessary conflict/obstacles/twists.

I really wanted to love this one, and I am totally bummed that I didn't. I would have enjoyed it more if there was additional focus on their relationship today, and not just on how they got to where they are over the span of 12 years.
