Anthony Ryan is an excellent storyteller. His characters and world building create the atmosphere in this first installment about an orphan who grows up with a band of outlaws reminiscent of selfish Robin Hoods to eventually follow a female religious warrior in the vein of Joan of Arc. What a great story!!
