Excellent story. I didn't know exactly what I was walking into when I picked this up, and I'm glad I went in blind. Gillian Flynn has crafted something special with this novel.
I think I'd have to be in the right headspace if I were to choose to read this again. Flynn captures anxiety, grief, sorrow, disgust, and horror in a way that few writers can achieve. The utterly depressing and dysfunctional family dynamic & personal relationship our narrator had with herself was truly difficult to experience even as an observer/reader.
If I were in college again I'd definitely want to write an essay on this book just for fun. There is a LOT to be explored in these sub-400 pages.
