Letter from Birmingham Jail
by Martin Luther King Jr.
This short book includes two texts, the first being “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” whilst the second is a sermon King gave titled “The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life.”
“Letter from Birmingham Jail” was very thought provoking and remains unsettlingly relevant in today's world. It was quite striking how so many of the lines had become immortalised, a testament to the power of his writing. I highly recommend!
“The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life” was also fascinating. While it is a sermon which is very much religion focused and fairly preachy, it isn’t overpoweringly so — it is still an interesting read! Although, and I know this was kind of the point, it felt like something you might find in a self help book. Still a worthwhile read and ties in nicely with “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”
4/5 stars!
