NOTE: The edition of the book shown on Storygraph appears to be a bind up of "Companions on the Road" and "The Winter Players". The following review is just for Companions on the Road:

A haunting tale - I enjoyed the winter atmosphere, the barren white landscapes, the chilly wind and lashing snow were very evocative. It also felt very dreamlike as the threat that is chasing Havor comes closer, the mounting dread is palpable. I also liked Havor's character, he is young but also weary and disillusioned from his experiences in the army, there is a part of him that is lost without a home. It was satisfying to see were his journey takes him.
