I've been rooting for this couple since book 1 of the series! An alcoholic, ex-FBI profiler obsessed with a serial killer, he's my favourite type of the broody, tortured hero who loves and protects with equal fierceness. She's the department shrink - intelligent, cool, and she's bad-ass, too. Seriously, the woman fights throughout and often comes out on top. And props for the Chinese representation!

But their relationship is great, from the banter, the sexual attraction/tension, that first time, the way they work, fight and kick-ass together is just *chef's kiss. There's a bit of push-pull, due to him thinking she'll get hurt by the killer by being with him.

Their chemistry is amazing, and their love scenes are hot yet sensual. I love all their moments, how she stands by him, and how he always, always comes for her no matter what. Their romance is much more intense/delicious if you've been with them from book 1, but it's still developed well here.

The suspense part is awesome as well, non-stop action and twists. The quirky deep-ops team gets some love - especially the found-family vibes. Also, Roscoe the dog and Wolfe (book 3's hero) are absolute gems. I'm glad there's a book 5 coming, I'm not ready to let go of this team!
