I SWEARRR THIS BOOK WAS JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST ONE IF NOT SLIGHTLY BETTER. i will admit it definitely had a slower start which kinda threw me off due to the very fast paced nature of the book series BUT AHH once the story picked up i couldn't put it down. the twists were so well written, and at first i wasn’t a fan of the whole religious-centered element of the series (which carried on from the first book) BUT I SWEAR that religious element was what was the second book so surprising. another thing i really appreciate about this book is how much character development some of the characters have gone through ESPECIALLY QUARRAH!!! like her naivety was what made me wary of her in the first book BUT AHHHHHHH
i just ADORE how much she has truly changed into a lone wolf in this book. i just love seeing how she didn’t immediately go running back into ard’s arms once they reunited (honestly she did quite the opposite 😭). she’s matured so much, and her decision to leave ard at the end BLEW ME AWAYY. I GENUINELY SCREECHED WHEN SHE DID THAT WHAT A GIRLBOSS 😍 i know she said she’d come back for him but to just LEAVE him like that, injured on a cliff, in the name of finding Gloristar was such a huge moment for Quarrah as a whole.
i could write a whole essay on Quarrah, but Portsend actually turned out to be a really pleasant surprise of a character. however that all being said, RAEK DESERVES HIS OWN POV AND I WAS SO MAD HE DIDN’T GET ONE ESPECIALLY SINCE HE WAS
STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION???
like pls that would have been so interesting to read about AHH WE WERE TRULY ROBBED. anyways 10/10 book, such a great follow up and the world building just keeps getting better and better 😍😍
