So, I really liked this book and especially fell in love with the crew of the Wallfish. I thought that the overall plot hook was a lot of fun, and it was one of the more realistic-feeling sci-fi books I’ve read in a while. Kira was a very likable and relatable protagonist and felt well-rounded and real throughout the tale.
That said, this book could have done with a bit more editing as it felt like there were large portions which could’ve been trimmed down or cut entirely. Also, while the plot was interesting it also bore more than a little resemblance to the underlying story of the Halo video games. I’d be interested to know if that was a conscious influence for the author.
