Having strayed away from YA for so long, I was both excited and apprehensive to read TOG but seeing as it’s a fantasy staple, I thought it was a good place to start. I’d tried this book several years ago but felt the opening chapters were a little predictable and repetitive so I DNF. However, I am SO glad I finally came back round to it two years on- though the plot is simple and a little predictable, it is incredibly enjoyable. It is an easy read, a wonderful fantasy, and exactly what I wanted. I hope the simplicity of this book is instead the foundations of something bigger and with that in mind, I cannot wait to continue the series. I miss the feeling of reading ACOTAR for the first time, and hope this soon feels the same.
